The Dragon hourglass Blog
Excerpt From Spirit of the Dragon
I set Spirit of the Dragon off into the wild on March 25th earlier this year, and in my excitement to start on the next installment, I neglected to provide an excerpt of the book on my own blog! Today, I’ll be correcting that, and you can read the first chapter of this exciting adventure right here, without downloading anything.
Book Review: Steel Crow Saga by Paul Krueger
I read the Steel Crow Saga in February, and it has taken me until mid-May to finally figure out how to write up all my thoughts. I loved the book for about a thousand different reasons, including the mesh and depth of cultures and histories, the swath of Asian and anime inspirations, the wonderful characters (including several LGBTQ+ and badass women), and… I could just keep going on.
Fantasy May TBR!
It’s Fantasy May, and as a fantasy author, I feel like writing a tribute to the genre I love so much is as necessary as writing the words for my next book. But creating another entry in this blog feels like adding a new, pristine tome to an otherwise forgotten, dusty library. Of course, my blog here is much more a tiny bundle of papers than it is a library, but I’ve always found myself fond of magical libraries.
Book Review: Elantris by Brandon Sanderson
Although I’ve read hundreds of books, I haven’t often taken the time to write a full review of any of them. That was never because I didn’t care about the books I read… I’d just never really wanted to share my thoughts.

I find the dragons of the East fascinating, but my favourites are of course Japanese dragons. They are beautiful, elegant creatures with the power of storms and rain behind them, but their nature is not purely benevolent or malevolent like Chinese or Western dragons, respectively.
Dragons in Mythology Part One
People all over the world have always been fascinated by dragons. They appear within the mythologies of over two dozen cultures and even today are a common within popular literature, television, and more.
Yes, yes, yes, to some degree, the popularity of dragons has led to an overabundance of them within the fantasy genre.
